Com 64 Grapher is a useful tool for
small-business people, students,
and/or any person who desires to
visually express numbers relative to
one another. Grapher is a program
that allows you to design the format
of vertical bar graphs with up to 60
numbers, displayed on four screens
that can contain up to 15 bar graphs
each.
At the start of the program, the
following menu is displayed:
[S]tart a new graph file
[R]ead a file from disk
[W]rite a file to disk
[A]dd to existing data
[C]hange prior entry
[F]ormat change
[L]ist current data
[G]raph data
To access any of these options, press
the appropriate letter.
START A NEW FILE
================
When you enter this option, your
first task is to establish the format
for the graph. Enter the minimum
value of the data to be graphed. The
vertical axis is measured in five
increments and you must specify the
increment value.
The range of values permissable in
your graph equals the value of the
bottom axis plus five times the
vertical interval.
Specify the name of your graph and
specify a label for the data being
plotted along the horizontal axis.
Once the format is complete,
you are prompted to enter "a" for
bars to be the same color or "b" for
bars to be different colors. If you
select "a" then the bars are red on a
black background.
Next, you are prompted to enter the
graph values. You can enter up to 60
numbers. If a number is out of the
range that you specified, it is
refused and bad entry statement is
displayed. To exit the entry mode,
enter -1. This takes you back to the
menu.
READ A FILE FROM DISK
=====================
This option reads data from a disk
file that you have previously
created. Merely enter the correct
filename and the data will be loaded.
WRITE A FILE TO DISK
====================
This option creates a disk file
using the data that resides in memory.
ADD TO EXISTING FILE
====================
This option picks up where you
stopped entering numbers and allows
you to add to your data. To exit this
mode, enter "-1".
CHANGE A PRIOR ENTRY
====================
Here, you are prompted to enter the
entry number that you wish to change.
Next, you are prompted to enter the
color number of that entry. If you
wish to leave the color as is, then
enter the same color number that is
shown to you.
FORMAT CHANGE
=============
This option allows you to change
the range of your graph. You are
prompted to enter the minimum value
of the vertical intervals.
LIST CURRENT DATA
=================
This option does two things:
displays the data in the file; and
displays the highest, lowest, and
average values of your data.
GRAPH DATA
==========
This option displays your data in
graph form. When displayed, you
are prompted to enter "p" to print the
graph or any other key to return to
the menu.
